Dr. Indu Bhushan serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) and the National Health Agency (NHA).
Dr. Bhushan is a professional with a career spanning 35 years across a multitude of sectors. Until his appointment as CEO, AB-NHPM, he served as Director General, East Asia Department, the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He has held multiple positions within ADB. He led ADB’s engagement with the People's Republic of China (PRC); Hong Kong, China; Republic of Korea; Mongolia; and Taiwan including management of $12.6 billion portfolio comprising of 113 projects. Dr. Bhushan administered and provided oversight to sectors like energy, environment, natural resources and agriculture, transport, public management, financial sector and regional cooperation, urban and social development. He also supervised ADB’s resident missions in the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia.
Dr. Bhushan is an IAS officer of the Indian Civil Services, 1983 Rajasthan cadre. He served for nine years prior to taking voluntary retirement. Thereafter, he worked as Senior Economist with the World Bank Group prior to moving to ADB.
He holds a Doctorate in Health Economics and a Master of Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, USA. He is an alumnus of the prestigious IIT BHU and IIT Delhi where he completed his B.Tech and Post-Graduate Diploma, respectively. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Dr. Dinesh Arora, Dy. CEO (NHA) is a dynamic officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 2002 Kerala cadre. Immediately prior to his appointment as Dy. CEO, National Health Agency, he worked as Director (Health & Voluntary Action) at Niti Aayog, a federal think tank. He has contributed to shaping the Ayushman Bharat – National Health Protection Mission since its inception.
In his lustrous career spanning 15 years, Dr. Arora has several achievements to his credit. Notably, this includes contribution as Executive Director, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and CEO RECPDCL to expedite India’s rural electrification drive to provide universal electricity access to all households. He played an instrumental role in formulating the 'Garv App', an award winning innovative monitoring and evaluation system. As Private Secretary to Former Indian Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Shipping, he was actively involved in drafting and implementing triad of polices in the Communications Department.
Dr. Arora is passionate about health sector and social issues. His educational training in medicine coupled with management acumen and experience of being a civil servant helped him contribute unique insights to the National Health Mission, Kerala where he served as Joint Secretary (Health), State Mission Director – Arogyakeralam and Director Social Welfare in early part of his professional career. Dr Arora has held administrative position as District Collector and District Magistrate where his exemplary work against illegal sand mining was acclaimed.
Dr. Arora has been recipient of several awards, notably the National E-Governance award for Mission Village Electrification, 2017.
